Austin Convention Center Department has elevated Katy Zamesnik, from Chief Administrative Officer to Assistant Director. As a member of the Executive Team, she will continue to work on the Redevelopment and Expansion Project Team, managing financial operations and partner relations.

Since March 2022, Zamesnik has been the Chief Administrative Officer of the Austin Convention Center Department, providing guidance and oversite for the redevelopment and expansion of the Austin Convention Center, the department’s overall budget, funding mechanisms, and debt services. She will continue to oversee the administration of ACCD’s Community Engagement and Arts Programs.

She also is the liaison and contract manager for Visit Austin, the City’s Direct Marketing Organization.

“As a member of the Executive Team, she will continue to work on the Redevelopment and Expansion Project Team, manage the financial operations for the department and continue to manage the Community and Partner Relations Team,” said Trisha Tatro, Austin Convention Department Director. “Over the last three years, Katy has successfully led the strategic planning efforts for Redevelopment and Expansion and managed the department’s overall budget, funding and debt services.”

Zamesnik previously served as the department’s Acting Chief Administrative Officer researching and developing financial models for expansion during the pandemic, and the management of contracts with consultants for real estate and development.

From 2015-20, Zamesnik was a Business Process Consultant with the City of Austin’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer. As a finance team member, she assisted with the proposal of the Austin Convention Center expansion and provided oversight to the Financial Services Department’s annual budget. She presented complex topics to City Council and Commissions and managed special projects for the City Manager’s executive team, including the Special Events Task Force Report and the 2018 Bond Development Process.

Previously serving as a Bond Development Coordinator from 2016-18, with the City of Austin’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Zamesnik led the management, communication, and oversite to successfully finance the $925 million, 2018 General Obligation Bond election. This included over 30 community meetings, presentations, open houses, and presentations to stakeholders and community groups.

As a Senior Budget Analyst in the City of Austin’s Budget Office from 2011-15, she prepared annual budgets, monitored, analyzed, and recommended action on departmental budgets and requests.

Zamesnik earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and International Affairs from Florida State University in 2008, and a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin in 2012.
