GES, a global full-service provider for live events, has expanded GES North America President Jay Altizer’s leadership role and promoted Jason Popp to president of GES EMEA. Altizer and Popp will continue to report directly to Steve Moster, president and chief executive officer of Viad.

“I’m pleased to announce the promotions of Jay and Jason, who will partner to lead GES globally,” says Steve Moster, president and chief executive officer of Viad. “Aligning our entire North American suite of services under Jay’s leadership will facilitate our ability to bring a powerful combination of solutions to our clients—from official contracting and corporate events to creative services, audio-visual production and event accommodations. We have seen great success from a similarly integrated approach in EMEA under Jason Popp’s leadership. We look to Jason and Jay to deliver more industry leading, experiential services to our clients around the globe.”

Altizer joined GES in May of 2018 as president of GES North America, leading the company’s exhibition and exhibit program business with a focus on accelerating growth. His expanded role includes responsibility for GES events, marketing, GES event accommodations company, onPeak and GES audio visual company, ON Services. Altizer’s extensive management experience, including operational excellence, business development and product innovation have enhanced GES’ service offerings.

Altizer says, “We are a client-centric company, and we are dedicated to helping our clients create unique, impacting experiences that drive results. I look forward to further aligning our team to ensure we bring our best to every situation. We will strive to simplify our business where we can create efficiencies, grow our services, the value we bring to our clients and transform the business for the future.”

Popp’s promotion to GES EMEA president follows successfully serving as GES EVP of International since 2011, and in various global leadership roles since 2004. During this time, Popp has spearheaded a period of robust growth by expanding the range of products and services and opening regional offices in Amsterdam and the Middle East. With his promotion to GES EMEA President, Popp will continue utilizing his leadership skills and deep insights into global markets to bring the best offerings for GES clients outside of North America.

Popp says, “Our clients are increasingly global brands, operating across borders and working in a multi-cultural and connected world. Our ability to match the international perspective of our diverse and creative team 1,000 people strong with our clients’ global ambitions makes us the perfect partner for brands looking to create impacting and consistent experiences across multiple geographies. It’s a real privilege to be leading the EMEA team at such an exciting time for the live event industry.”

Altizer holds an MBA from Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and both a Bachelor of Science in Management Science and a Bachelor of Science in Management from Virginia Tech. Altizer’s experience includes successfully leading teams at Dean Foods, PepsiCo, and Bain & Company.

Popp holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has operated in complex international environments including 10 years spent living and working outside of the U.S. Prior to joining GES, he was holding numerous senior positions in companies including L.E.K.
