A regional marketing director for Global Spectrum in charge of the Saint Charles Convention Center (SCCC) has earned a prestigious Pacesetter Award.
Joe Capitanelli, regional marketing director for Global Spectrum and marketing manager at the Global Spectrum-managed SCCC, was awarded the Pacesetter Award from the Convention Industry Council (CIC). The award honors accomplished industry supporters and emerging leaders in the meetings and events community.
“We are extremely proud of Joe’s contributions and successes not only here at the Saint Charles Convention Center but throughout all of Global Spectrum and the industry,” said Shura Garnett, regional vice president, Global Spectrum, and general manager, SCCC.
Capitanelli began his career as a marketing intern at the SCCC was promoted to facility marketing manager in 2008. Capitanelli is also a regional marketing director for Global Spectrum, where he oversees marketing efforts for all of Global Spectrum’s managed convention centers. Additionally, he sits on the Global Spectrum National Marketing Plan Committee, where he assists in the marketing and advertising efforts for all of Global Spectrum’s managed convention centers.
Capitanelli was honored at an invitation-only luncheon hosted by the CIC on Oct. 8 in Las Vegas during the IMEX America tradeshow.
The CIC’s 32 member organizations represent more than 103,500 individuals and 19,500 firms and properties involved in the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry. The CIC’s mission is to provide a forum for member organizations to exchange information on global trends and topics, promulgate excellence in best practices and guidelines, collaborate on industry issues and advocate the value of the meetings, conventions, exhibitions and events industry.
Global Spectrum manages the SCCC as well as more than 100 other public assembly facilities around the world. Nearly 20 million people attended more than 11,000 events in Global Spectrum venues last year. Based in Philadelphia, Global Spectrum is part of Comcast-Spectacor, one of the world’s largest sports and entertainment companies.
