HCEA Annual Meeting highlights latest meeting technology

HCEAMobile applications, tablets, e-detailing, virtual event mapping – the list of technologies altering the medical meetings landscape seems endless, and the 2012 Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA) Annual Meeting features these advances to prepare healthcare exhibit marketing professionals and medical meeting organizers for the future. The meeting will be held June 23-26, 2012, in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center.

The 2012 HCEA Annual Meeting highlights a curriculum targeted specifically to pharmaceutical and medical device marketers and medical association professionals. Those interested in learning more about using technology to enhance the overall healthcare convention and exhibition experience can choose from a variety of sessions, such as “How Mobile Phones and Tablets are Revolutionizing Exhibitions and Events” and “Utilizing Technology for Enhanced Communication between Associations and Exhibitors.”

The program also features sessions exploring the latest developments with the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and developments with other industry codes that impact compliance in all areas of the healthcare convention.

In addition, the meeting features interactive learning forums promoting peer-to-peer knowledge-sharing; sessions on determining the value of participation in healthcare conventions; courses encouraging creative approaches to marketing; and sessions exploring the global healthcare exhibiting environment. Education is organized into the following learning tracks:

  • Regulatory and Compliance
  • Measurement
  • Marketing
  • Event Logistics and Planning
  • Global
  • Technology
  • Professional/Personal Development

Additionally, meetings social media expert James Spellos, CMP, president of Meeting U., will deliver the keynote address. Spellos will challenge attendees to explore how social media has enhanced communications related to face-to-face meetings.

The meeting will also highlight activities designed to give back to the Orlando community by offering attendees the chance to volunteer to assist Give Kids the World and Edgewood Children’s Ranch, organizations that help children in need. Also featured will be a charity golf tournament that will raise funds for the organizations, and donation bins placed throughout the meeting site for collecting donation items.
